چکیده

Objective: To determine the effect of noise on identification of ventricular late potentials. Study Design: Cross sectional comparative study. Place and Duration of Study: Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology/National Institute of Heart Diseases, Rawalpindi from May 2006 to February 2007. Methodology: The study included 37 patients with Mitral Valve Prolapse for the identification of ventricular late potentials. Patients with acute or old myocardial infarction, diabetes mellitus and systemic hypertension were excluded from the study. Signal averaged ECG was recorded according to the standard protocol. On the basis of noise level, the patients were divided in two groups i.e. low noise group (<0.20 μv) and high noise

STUDY OF LATE POTENTIALS IN PEDIATRIC PATIENTS AFTER OP EN HEART SURGERY

This study was conducted to assess the incidence of abnormalities of ventricular depolarization (late potentials) in children with sinus rhythm after open heart surgery and their relation to spontaneous ventricular tachycardia. Open heart surgery, particularly operations involving ventriculotomy, may predispose patients to the development of ventricular tachycardia (VT) or ventricular fibri...

Signal-Averaged Electrocardiogram Improved Identification of Late Potentials

Background. This study performed a critical analysis of signal-averaging methods. The objective was to optimize detection of late potentials. Methods and Results. We studied two patient populations: a low-arrhythmia-risk group with no evidence of heart disease and a group with clinically documented ventricular tachycardia (VT). Filtered QRS duration (QRSD) and terminal QRS amplitude (RMS40) wer...

Top-resolution frequency analysis of electrocardiogram with adaptive frequency determination. Identification of late potentials in patients with coronary artery disease.

Frequency analysis of the electrocardiogram with Fourier transform is a sensitive method of detecting late potentials. However, information about localization of late potentials is lost, frequency resolution is poor, and window functions have to be applied. We therefore analyzed multiple segments (25 msec long) of the surface electrocardiogram ("spectrotemporal mapping") with adaptive frequency...

Single-beat analysis of ventricular late potentials in the surface electrocardiogram using the spectrotemporal pattern recognition algorithm in patients with coronary artery disease.

AIMS Post-infarction risk stratification can be ascertained from beat-to-beat variations in ventricular late potentials. However, gaining such information by conventional late potential analysis using signal averaging is still not possible. METHODS We therefore developed the spectrotemporal pattern recognition algorithm in order to detect beat-to-beat variations in late potentials. Based on t...
